Meet Our Principal

Ms. Gwendolyn Haynes-Evans

Hello Students, Parents and Community Members,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Shadowlawn Elementary School – Home of the Sharks! I am incredibly   fortunate to work with such a dedicated team of professionals and we are thrilled to welcome you to our school. Shadowlawn Elementary believe that all students can reach their highest potential through the integration of curriculum, high expectations and family literacy. This belief is founded upon the fact that Shadowlawn Elementary School has created a positive, peaceful and nurturing learning environment.  This environment is not only conducive to high student performance, but also attracts and empowers the efforts of all stakeholders, including staff, parents and other community members.

Shadowlawn Elementary has an A+ staff that works very hard to ensure the best for their students. As we work hard to maintain academic excellence and improve our school grade, we ask that you review these tips, in helping our students to have a great year!

  • Report to school on time.
  • Make sure your child has a healthy breakfast whether it is at school starting at 7:30 A.M. or at home.
  • Make sure your child wears his/her school uniform daily.
  • Please stay in contact with your child’s teacher.
  • Register for your parent portal so you can keep track of your child’s academic progress in every academic area.
  • Read with your child or encourage your child to read every night.

Remember the most successful students are those who have strong support from their parents. Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is active and we encourage all parents to become a member if you have not done so already. In addition, we are requesting parents to join the Educational Excellence School Advisory Council (EESAC) and become school volunteers.

We hope you enjoy our website. If you would like additional information regarding our school, please contact the main office at 305-758-3673.  Our theme this year is “Academic Success Under Construction”. Please join us as our students are excited to “tighten” their study habits, and “hit” the books towards success.
